First Capital Bank recently hosted a community-focused padel event at the First Capital Bank Sports Village in Gaborone CBD. The event emphasised the bank’s dedication to community engagement and technological advancement. Among the participants were His Worship, the Mayor of Gaborone, Mr. Austin Abraham, and other councillors, who joined in the padel matches, contributing to a fun and engaging atmosphere.
Reinette Van Der Merwe, CEO of First Capital Bank, remarked, “Our goal was to create a fun and engaging experience that brought people together. This event was about celebrating community spirit and reinforcing our belief that supporting and connecting with each other is essential.”
A highlight of the event was the launch of the bank’s innovative FCB Tap product. This Soft POS solution enables any Android device equipped with NFC capability to serve as a secure, contactless payment terminal. This feature presents an excellent opportunity for small businesses (vendors, home businesses, taxis, fast-foods, markets, etc) to enhance their operations.
To facilitate this transformation, First Capital Bank has provided Android devices to eight vendors, allowing them to more easily accept payments and manage their finances more effectively. “To start using FCB Tap, all one needs is an Android device, an account with First Capital Bank, and registration for the service. Businesses can then easily accept payments by opening the app, entering the amount, and having the customer tap their card—Ke TAH! Fela,” shared Molatedi Poomore, Relation Manager at First Capital Bank.
