GABORONE – As the main sponsor, First Capital Bank Botswana is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the Chinese New Year celebration in partnership with the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce. The event, held on 27 January 2024, was a resounding success, bringing together members of the Chinese community to celebrate the auspicious ‘Year of the Dragon’ with the sponsorship amount of P200,000.

Attendees were treated to a vibrant display of Chinese culture and traditions, including entertainment and festivities organised by the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce. The event provided a platform for attendees to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of the Chinese community in Botswana.

Reflecting on the event, Chief Executive Officer of First Capital Bank Botswana, Mrs. Reinette van der Merwe, remarked, “It is truly an honour to witness the joy and camaraderie shared by all who attended the Chinese New Year celebration. Among the dignitaries present on the evening were His Honour, the Vice President of Botswana, Mr. Slumber Tsogwane, His Honour, the Ambassador of The People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Botswana, Mr. Wang Xuefeng and the Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Hu Zhongwen.
